Control Room Operations
Operates all three generating sites from the central control room at Newport West, responding to market dispatch and grid frequency, starting, loading and shutting down units, monitoring plant through the supervisory control system and directing field operators on routine checks, isolations and first response to plant events.
What the team is accountable for
- Operate the gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators and steam turbine to dispatch
- Monitor wind farm and hydro station operation remotely
- Carry out operational checks on in-service plant each shift
- Control permit to work isolations and restorations
- Keep the operations log and complete shift handover

Leanne Boschetti
Leanne leads the four shift panels and the operations procedures, and has been a unit controller and shift supervisor at Powergen for fourteen years.
Callum Reid
Callum operates the combined cycle units and remote sites on panel B and has been a controller for three years after two years as a field operator.

Permit and Isolation Register
Records every permit to work and its isolations from request through issue, work, restoration and close out.
Maintenance Work Orders and Defects
Holds every defect raised and every planned and corrective maintenance work order across the three sites with priority, crew and completion records.
