Purpose. Authorised operators use this template to write a step by step switching program for high voltage apparatus in the station switchyard and the wind farm collector system.

1.When to use this template

Prepare a switching program for every planned high voltage switching operation, including isolation of transformers, feeders and generator circuit breakers for maintenance and their return to service. Emergency switching is directed by the control room but must still be recorded on this template after the event.

2.Writing the steps

Each step must name one apparatus by its switchyard identifier, one action (open, close, rack out, apply earth, remove earth, check) and the expected indication. Steps must be numbered and must follow the sequence that maintains a safe and stable network at every point.

3.Checking

A second authorised operator must check the program against the single line diagram and the network operator's requirements before it is approved. Any change during execution must be approved by the control room and recorded.

4.Executing

The operator must read each step aloud, perform it, confirm the indication and record the time before moving to the next step. Steps must not be performed from memory or out of order.

5.Filing

The completed program with times and signatures must be attached to the permit and filed as a quality record.

6.Complete the template
