Purpose. This policy sets how the business controls its documents, records, work and plant so that operations and maintenance are performed consistently and to specification.

1.Purpose

Reliability depends on work being done the same way every time, to the right specification, with the right parts and the right records. This policy applies to every procedure, drawing, record, maintenance task and contractor deliverable.

2.Policy statement

Powergen will maintain a quality management system with controlled documents, defined work instructions, calibrated instruments, traceable parts and records that show the work was done as specified. Every worker will apply the quality system to their work and will raise a non-conformance when the specification cannot be met.

3.Controlled documents

Procedures, drawings and work instructions must carry a document code, version, approval and review date. Only the current version in the document library may be used. Superseded versions must be withdrawn from the plant.

4.Records

Maintenance work orders, test results, calibration certificates, permits and operations logs are quality records. They must be complete, legible and retained for the period in the records schedule.

  • Work orders closed with results and parts used
  • Calibration certificates for every test instrument
  • Alignment, clearance and torque records for rotating plant
  • Commissioning records for plant returned to service

5.Non-conformance and improvement

Non-conformances must be raised in the work order and reviewed by the responsible manager. Trends will be reviewed at the monthly quality meeting and improvements will be tracked to closure.

6.Review

This policy will be reviewed every two years and after any major outage.
